Thoughts About Writing:
Writing is both a form of communication and an art form. Historically, writing has been used to spread information across lands and eventually oceans. It was a tool that allowed people to communicate with a disregard to both time and distance. As technology developed, so did the written word. Once the telegram was invented, the ability to communicate across distance was shortened and started the steady jog to where we are today in-terms of communication.
The history of writing and how it was used amazes me. It's also something that inspires a sense of thankfulness. Thanks to writing, I can communicate with family and friends across distances. I'm able to type something on my phone, send it, and I might get a instant reply. And that's just talking about the writing technology that's grown up with me. Thinking about how far writing, communication, and technology has come in my parents and grandparents' lifetimes is really crazy.
Writing is something that I enjoy, creative writing especially. The ability to create worlds with just a couple words is something that has me somewhere in the field of being awed and inspired. Creative writing is where I see the art form of writing. On the reader side of things, I'm grateful that so many writers have been able to take advantage of the technology to produce such works of art. On the writer side of things, I'm grateful that it's so easy to get these thoughts outside of my head and onto a page.
